At Twisted Fern, we believe the best things in life are handcrafted, shared with friends, and—every now and then—get a little bit "twisted."
Based right here in Fernie, BC, Twisted Fern is a true passion project led by Corey Sullivan and Matthew Schaafsma, who started in 2024 with a simple goal: to elevate the humble pantry staple into something truly special.
The Chef & The Strategist
Their partnership is where culinary art meets community connection..

is the heart of the kitchen and a graduate of the prestigious Stratford Culinary School. With over two decades
as a professional chef—from the refined French-bistro roots of Vancouver’s Twisted Fork to local favorite Bramasole—he brings a seasoned, "twisted" imagination to every small batch. Corey’s
expertise lies in his ability to layer vibrant, sun-ripened fruits with subtle herbal notes, creating complex, velvety
profiles that elevate a simple preserve into a gourmet
experience.
is the engine that keeps the wheels turning. With a lifelong career in sales management and leadership—including over a decade spent building teams and connecting with customers—he’s the logistical backbone of the operation. Matthew ensures every jar gets from their kitchen to your table with the personal touch only a small business can provide. For him, it’s not just about a transaction; it’s about ensuring every customer feels like a neighbor.
Inclusive by Design
Corey and Matt are big believers that "good food should be for everyone." That’s why we’ve gone the extra mile to ensure our gourmet jams, jellies, and preserves are as inclusive as they are delicious. Almost everything we make is vegan, gluten-free, and nut-free, so no one has to miss out on the flavour.
A Piece of Fernie in Every Jar
Whether you’re local picking up a jar in a shop or an out-of-towner ordering a taste of the mountains online, we are so grateful to have you as part of our story. We’re just two guys doing what we love in the town we call home, and we can’t wait for you to try what’s cooking.
